Born and raised in South London, JR grew up listening to reggae and soul played by his parents which infused him with a love of the exotic and tranquil sounds true to his Jamaican heritage. His early musical influences came from a diverse range of artists and genres, from Michael Jackson to hip hop icon Snoop
Dogg, to funk musicians Rick James, Herbie Hancock and Steve Arrington as well as ska and disco.
However, it was his older brother, legendary DJ Grooverider who initiated his introduction to the synthetic basslines and sounds of electronic music which had him instantly hooked. He counts his brother as a huge inspiration as well as house giants Carl Craig, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo - it was later when taken by his brother to an outdoor rave at a very early age that JR was hit with the realization that house music was his passion and spelt the beginning of his DJing career.
JR has enjoyed success playing numerous top London venues renowned for their house DJ sets such as Pacha, Brick House, Egg, Hidden and Lokee.
