Nick Craddock grew up in the North of England and began DJing in the mid to late 90s, taking initial influence from some of the prominent Techno DJs of that time. The foundations of his musical education were laid on the dancefloors of The Orbit, Voodoo and Bugged Out. When the style became stuck in a tribal locked groove around the end of that decade, his horizons broadened. Detroit, Chicago, Berlin and Cologne became closer reference points.
Delving deeper, his interest in electronic music was re-energised by the early output of labels such as Kompakt, Playhouse, Perlon, Background and Klang Elektronik. It was 1999 and this felt genuinely fresh. No one was using the M word.
Nick moved to London in 2000, got himself a job in the music industry and began seeking places to peddle his musical wares. The relative obscurity of this style was both a blessing and curse. Likeminds were few and far between but it was easy to stand out. A residency at the Valvo nights followed, along with a stint on one of the earliest internet radio stations; Groovetech.
