ピーターは、1963年ビル・モンローのバンドに入り、ブルーグラスの伝統を深く理 解しながらも、その枠にとどまることなくEarth OperaやSeatrainといったロックバンドでは、ブルーグラスの楽器と ロックの楽器を融合させた実験的なサウンドを追求。またデイヴィッド・グリスマン、クラレンス・ホワイト、リチャード・グリーン、ビル・キース等とブルーグラス史上最強のスーパー・グループ、Muleskinner を結成し名盤を残し、グレイトフル・デッド のジェリー・ガルシアらと結成した伝説のバンドOld and In The Way では、ロックファンにブルーグラスを紹介するだけでなく、ミュージシャンた ち自身のルーツへの回帰を促しました。その後ソロになったピーターは、さらにいろんな音楽に挑戦し続け、テックスメックスのフラコ・ヒメネス、エミールー・ハリスやチェコのバンド他との共演やレコーディングを続けています。

Born on July 4, 1942, he began his professional career in 1963 as the singer and guitarist for Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, later co-founding the influential progressive bluegrass group Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. With a career spanning over six decades, Rowan has released numerous solo albums, formed the band The Rowans with his brothers, and continues to tour and collaborate with various projects, earning him a place in the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2022....
