
eter Rowan is a Grammy-winning American bluegrass musician, singer, and songwriter, also known as the "Bluegrass Buddha" due to his long-time Buddhist practice. Born on July 4, 1942, he began his professional career in 1963 as the singer and guitarist for Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, later co-founding the influential progressive bluegrass group Old & In the Way with Jerry Garcia and David Grisman. With a career spanning over six decades, Rowan has released numerous solo albums, formed the band The Rowans with his brothers, and continues to tour and collaborate with various projects, earning him a place in the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2022.
