Having lived in Shanghai from the summer of 2012 through to early 2016, Alta was a key member of the city's underground club music scene through his involvement co-running Push and Pull, Shanghai's first club night truly dedicated to such sounds as grime, gqom and other cutting-edge forms of club music and which puts on monthly parties at China's most revered club, The Shelter. Now, as Push and Pull expands into a label later in 2016, he's bringing these sounds to Tokyo.
With a reputation for ahead-of-the-curve selections allied to an upfront, dancefloor focus, Alta was inspired to take up DJing in 2006 after visiting the legendary and seminal club night FWD>>, which had an instrumental role in creating the genres of grime and dubstep, and hearing the dark sounds therein. Applying that FWD>> mentality to his sets and events, Alta has toured China and racked up support slots for, amongst others, Future Brown, Slackk, Mumdance, Zed Bias, Fatima Al Qadiri, Murlo, J-Cush and Deadboy....
