MIEKO (Tokyo, Japan) currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Spanning techno, house and minimal genres, she employs a colour-based theory to create specific soundscapes with warm baselines, heavily reliant on German sound with undertones of Tokyo.
MIEKO has been part of the Tokyo techno/house scene since 1998 as a DJ, event organiser and music writer. During this time, she has played extensively internationally in Germany, Austria (with Electric Indigo at Flex), France, Holland (with Layo&Bushwaka, Amsterdam), NYC, Hong Kong, Vietnam, China, South Korea and Australia.
She was also winner of the Heineken Music DJ competition in Japan in 2003, which transpired to working with Paul Oakenfold at ageHa.
MIEKO is organiser of the techno/house party ..Garden.. (Colors Studio, Tokyo, since March 2006), which focusses on deep, underground sounds, inviting international as well as Japanese artists, including Electric Indigo, Clement (Kill the Dj) and Daso (Connaisseur).
