TERUMASA HINO

Born in 1942, Terumasa Hino currently resides in New York. He started learning the trumpet from the age of 9, and at 13 started performing with a US military dance band. In 1967 he released his first leader track “ALONE ALONE AND ALONE”, going solo the following year. He teamed up with jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi and was so popular that the media coined the term “HinoTeru Boom”. He moved to the US in 1975, performing alongside such legends as Gill Evans, Jacky McLean and Larry Coryell. In 1989, he became the first Japanese artist to sign with the Blue Note Label. In June 1997, he released the alum “OFF THE COAST” alongside a remix album titled “OFF DA COAST”.

dj honda moved to the US in 1992. The same year he was runner-up in the DJ Battle For World Supremacy, becoming the first Japanese to make an impact on the underground hip hop scene. He released his first eponymously titled album in 1995, which featured big names like The Beatnuts, Redman, Guru, DJ Premier, Fat Joe, Common and Erick Sermon. His second album “h II” featured De La Soul, Keith Murray, KRS-One, Mos Def and Camp Lo. Repeated chart success was followed with the establishment of dj honda RECORDINGS in NYC, Tokyo and Seoul. He was arguably the first hip hop artist to develop his own line of clothing. In 2009 he released dj honda IV, which featured Mos Def, Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Kool G Rap and EPMD. In 2011, he did the beats for Terumasa Hino’s album “Aftershock” and played the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2011.

TATSUYUKI HIYAMUTA (DAD MOM GOD / THE MAN)

Hiyamuta got his musical debut as the alto saxophonist for Tokyo Ska Paradise orchestra. He had a motorbike accident in Thailand in 1996, while on tour, which he spent six months recovering from. From then on he became a producer, releasing mini-album “Hi no O Jive” in 1999 and “Full Tension Beaters” in 2001, founding label JUST A RECORD the same year. He had been a DJ since his Ska Paradise days, and runs the club event TABOO. In 1999, he broadened his activities with the Roc Brothers DJ unit he does with Yusuke Chiba and Tatsuya Nakamura. He left Ska Paradise in 2008. In 2010, despite still being in rehabilitation he started new unit DAD MAM GOD. He released his first album “Poems like the Gun” on SEXY STONES the same year. He released his second album “ISN’T IT DMG?” in April 2011.

TATSUO SUNAGA (SUNAGA T EXPERIENCE)

Sunaga t experience is the solo project of DJ and producer Tatsuo Senaga. He is active both in Japan and abroad and has released eight mix CDs in the World Standard series. He has released four albums as Sunaga t experience and his latest, “Jazz et Jazz” is very highly rated.

Kon Hideaki, aka was born in 1969. He is a hip hop musician, MC, track maker, producer, DJ and remixer. He moved to the US in the late ‘80s, spending the ‘90s in New York. He formed BUDDHA BRAND with CQ and DJ MASTERKEY after which he returned to Japan. He is a leading figure in Japan’s rap scene.
