A rap group comprised of Ani, Bose and Shinco. They made their debut in 1990 and became a household name after their collaboration with Kenji Ozawa in 1994. Since then they have released many albums and produced and remixed numerous tracks for other artists. Shinco and Ani are active as club DJs. Last year, they released their ninth album, "THE 9th SENSE". They also make appearances on TV and the stage as well as working in collaboration with other musicians and doing projects not related to music.

SHINCO (SCHA DARA PARR)

Otherwise known as Shinsuke Matsumoto, SHINCO is a DJ and track maker. He formed seminal hip hop unit Scha Dara Parr with Bose and ANI in 1988 debuting in 1990 with production by Kan Takagi. In 1994 they teamed up with Kenji Ozawa on the smash hit single “Konya wa Boogie Back”. Subsequent collaborations with Alpha and Denki Groove put Scha Dara Parr at the forefront of Japanese hip hop. In Feb 2007 they formed Sly Mongoose and Robochu to form band THE HELLO WORKS, releasing the album “PAYDAY”. This year marks 20 years since their debut.

TAKESHI KUBOTA (ex KIMIDORI)

Takeshi Kubota began his career in 1991 as rapper and sound creator with legendary rap group Kimidori. Their self-titled 1993 album was followed in 1996 by “O.Wa.Ra.Na.I”, which won them major acclaimed, but the group broke up shortly thereafter. Many remix and production jobs were augmented by a flourishing DJ career and a series of mixtapes “CLASSICS(1-4)”, which began in 1998. His first official mix album ”NEO CLASSICS” dropped in 2003, which he followed up five years later with “NEO CLASSICS 2” released on Avex. In March 2009 he started the mix series “Strictly Rockers”. The same year he dropped “NEO CLASSICS 3” and “Mix CD”, which featured only Japanese artists.

BOBO JAMES aka D.L (BUDDHA BRAND)

Hideaki Kon aka Bobo James was born in 1969. He is a hip hop musician, MC, track maker, producer, DJ and remixer. He moved to the US in the late ‘80s, spending the ‘90s in New York. He formed BUDDHA BRAND with CQ and DJ MASTERKEY after which he returned to Japan. He is a leading figure in Japan’s rap scene.

KZA is one half of FORCE OF NATURE, an innovative DJ and production unit, along with DK KENTO. They spin an eclectic mix that spans house, breakbeats, disco, techno, electro, hip hop, and dub. Their albums “THE FORCES OF NATURE”, “II” and “III” are highly acclaimed and they have worked as producers and remixers for big acts like Ayumi Hamasaki, Tadashi Sogabe, DJ SHADOW, D.C.P.R.G., CRUE-L GRAND ORCHESTRA, HALCALI, SLY MONGOOSE and YOU THE ROCK★. They play many events in Japan and in Europe and the US.

AZZURRO (ex MELLOW YELLOW)

AZZURRO began his music career as DJ GZ-JAY of a Japanese hip hop group called MELLOW YELLOW since the beginning of 1990s. While contributing to the group’s live shows and productions, he has also produced and remixed a lot of domestic and foreign artists such as FU-TEN, BY PHAR THE DOPEST, PEANUT BUTTER WOLF, NOBODY, MAD DOCTOR X, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST and BOBBY HUTCHERSON. After the break up of the group, he started making beats under the name AZZURRO, and released his 1st solo album "IL MARE AZZURRO" in 2003. The album featured various artists such as DEF TEX (SON Records, UK), FU-TEN, Japanese turntablist JIF-ROCK, etc. One of the tracks "Quattro Respirato" which he produced with HASHIM B was chosen for the compilation "Return Of The DJ Vol.5" and caught much attention. In 2004, AZZURRO formed ILL SUONO with HASHIM B. He has a good reputation for his beats which have the essence of 90’s NY hip hop. He has been actively participating as a hip hop engineer as well as a producer in the past few years. His 2nd solo album "10000 Light-Years From Home" is planned to be released in February 2007.
