At the end of last year, we held PROM NITE with NEON INDIAN as guest music selector. It was a such as massive success that we’re doing it again, this time teaming up with American Apparel who are presenting ultra-hot rapper LE1F and HEEMS, the main MC from alternative hip hop tri DAS RACIST. DJs include KIRI from REVOLVER, JOMMY from ROC TRAX, HABANERO POSSE, MR. TIKINI and DJ RIE as well as DJ YAMEZ from the Red Bull Music Academy. With these two leading proponents of the US hip hop club scene performing exclusively, expect a very packed house!

In a world full of rappers claiming to be one of a kind, Le1f (born Khalif Diouf) is a real deal original, a fascinatingly complicated personality full of seeming contractions. He’s a Manhattan native who studied ballet and modern dance, and eventually earned a degree in dance from Wesleyan before returning to the city to become a rapper. He’s an out and proud gay MC whose style is rooted in Tunnel bangers from a less socially enlightened era of hip-hop. He’s a producer who’s responsible for the beat behind Das Racist’s “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell”, a fashion icon promoting a “hoodrat Tumblr aesthetic,” and Internet personality on a transcendental quest to become a living digital avatar. “The fabric of my life is a sexy fucking textile,” he brags on “Yup,” from his debut mixtape, Dark York, and obviously that’s no joke.

HEEMS (DAS RACIST)
Himanshu Kumar Suri aka Heems is an American rapper from Queens, New York. Best known for being part of the alternative hip hop group Das Racist, Suri is also the founder of Greedhead Music, an independent record label. In 2012, Suri released his first solo mixtape, Nehru Jackets on his Greedhead imprint and in conjunction with SEVA NY, a community-based organization from Queens of which Suri is a board member. Suri has also written about music and all things South Asian for the Village Voice, Death and Taxes magazine, Fuse, Stereogum and Alternet.

Kiri established the brand Revolver in 1997, along with friends. In 2005 he relaunched started a new style with SO ME, the art director of Ed Banger Records. Recently he has been handling the music selection for boutiques and restaurants in Tokyo. A compilation produced under the REVOLVER moniker released at the end of May 2011..

Hailing from Aichi prefecture, GUNHEAD got into hip hop and techno while at middle school and began deejaying in the mid-90s. At that time there wasn’t a culture of mixing at hip hop or techno parties and his mixing skills soon saw him hailed as one of the hottest DJs in Japan. After working alongside DJ HANGER for a while, he joined LEOPALDON. His remix of a LAMP-EYE track became a big hit and after that he did remixes for Zeebra, Kaminari, YOU THE ROCK★, KEN THE 390, Cypress Ueno, and other top acts. In 2011 he formed HABANERO POSSE with FYS aka BINGO.
