A singular producer and DJ that connects the dots between the old and new in British dance music, Floating Points aka Sam Shepherd presents his band's Japan premiere before moving to Contact to demonstrate his beloved DJ set at the same night. As last year's Elaenia album showed, his creativity and experimentalism are based on a broad musical background, helping gain him international fame as a composer. With his seasoned DJing, his own Eglo imprint and reissue label Melodies, on the other hand, the music polymath soaks up jazz, Brazil, Afro among others, forming his playful, exquisite style. Besides, Alan Abrahams shares the stage as Portable, a project based around his influences from South Africa, Chicago house and soul. His introspective take on dance music with intricate layers of delicate electronics and his own languid vocal makes for a must-see live set that draws up a blueprint for future soul music.
