Tokyo Community Radio (TCR), an online radio platform run by Licaxxx, has launched a new event series.
The online event “communities”, which connected five cities across Japan, including Tokyo, in 2020 during the pandemic, will be developed into a real event, introducing local communities that spread deeply throughout Japan, and is a new step toward steadily connecting to the fast-growing Asian region as well as to the Western world.
At the center of this organically circulating circle are the TCR residents, led by Licaxxx, the organizer of the festival, the generation that already forms the core of the current local scene, and the new generation that will bring even more depth to the scene in the future. We hope you will join us and experience the moment when the scene and community expand and new actions are born, as the various DJs change from one event to the next.
In addition, the New York-based artist Debit, who will perform at the opening event of YOSHIROTTEN's large-scale installation SUN to be held at the National Stadium on April 1 and 2, is scheduled to perform on the 2nd floor.
She has been involved in a wide range of electronic music communities from her native Mexico to South America and North America, and is highly regarded as a producer who reconstructs indigenous music in a unique way and sublimates it into avant-garde sounds, sometimes with a taste for drone, and sometimes into melancholy ambience. She is also a DJ who has been gaining support as a DJ who bakes the swing of Latin club music, which naturally makes you want to sink into it, into the framework of current techno. In 2022, she has just released her second album, "The Long Count," an ambitious electro-acoustic work built on creative electronic instruments developed by AI that learned from her research into the wind instruments of the Mayan civilization of Mexico, where she has her roots. You must see how her unique worldview is sublimated through her DJ style.
