UPPER CUTS is an event held every Wednesday night at the sound system bar 88block located in Takadanobaba, Tokyo.

One of the major highlights of this event is the unique "SELF PRODUCTIONS SET," where resident DJ MaL (Hoodish/Part2style) plays original tracks primarily produced at the connected Hoodish Studio, exclusively using original sound sources.

Joining him as resident DJs are two members of the Hoodish/88block crew: MAPO, who promotes diasporic revel music centered around breakbeats, dub, and South American sounds, and Zooey Loomer 1979, known for skillfully blending various genres with a focus on UK bass music and creating diverse grooves.

Each week features guest DJs from various backgrounds, including producers involved in Hoodish Recordings, label representatives from domestic independent labels, and renowned masters from music bars.

Attendees can enjoy a night filled with the distinctive sound of 88block's original sound system, designed by SUSHI AUDIO WORKSHOP.
