The iconic Tokyo summer outdoor music party, “SUMMER SOUNDS,” is back again this year. On Saturday, August 17th, a special day celebrating the 15th anniversary will be held at The Mint Ginza Rooftop, located on the 11th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy high-quality dance music and delicious drinks in an open rooftop setting.

Since its inaugural event in 2009, SUMMER SOUNDS has transformed unexpected spots into unparalleled party venues, including rooftops, Michelin-starred restaurants, skate parks, and embassies. This year’s venue, The Mint Ginza Rooftop, offers stunning views of the sky and cityscape, making it the ideal backdrop to celebrate Japan’s rich subculture. Immerse yourself in a dynamic space where deep house, techno, disco, new wave, and hip-hop blend seamlessly.

The headliner for this year is Tokyo-based singer-songwriter/producer/DJ Maika Loubté. Raised in Japan, Paris, and Hong Kong, Maika focuses on electronic music and authentic “songs,” utilizing vintage analog synthesizers. She has collaborated with artists both domestically and internationally, produced soundtracks, provided music for commercials, remixed tracks, and performed narrations. Notably, her 2020 song “Show Me How” was featured in Mazda’s commercial, and she was selected as a SpotifyEQUAL monthly artist, appearing on a billboard in New York Times Square. Her latest work, “mani mani,” is a must-listen, and her special sunset live set will undoubtedly be a highlight of the summer.

Closing the night will be Tokyo-based producer, DJ, and performer Sapphire Slows. Since her debut in 2011, she has captured the attention of the global underground scene, participating in the Red Bull Music Academy, performing at Sonar in Barcelona, and serving as a resident on London’s Rinse FM. Her music, characterized by delicate synthesis, whispering vocals, and undulating bass and beats, weaves an emotional texture and narrative that defy genre classification. This time, she will deliver a DJ set, taking the night to new heights.

SUMMER SOUNDS features an eclectic lineup of freestyle dancers, diverse live acts, DJs, and performers. Dress creatively and get ready to dive into a night full of innovation and creation. Enjoy fantastic food between acts and dance the night away with entertainment that lasts until late.
