あなたが初めてクラブに行ったのは、いつですか？その時のこと、憶えていますか？
僕は、95年夏に初めて行った新宿リキッドルームでのClub Venus、Derrick MayのDJに頭を撃ち抜かれました。
その翌週にはターンテーブルを購入し、以来なけなしのバイト代を握りしめて、シスコに通い詰めた日々が続きました。
ほら、あなたも思い出したはずです。
テクノロジーが進化した現在、レコードやターンテーブルは、CDやMP3、ラップトップにその座を譲りつつあります。
今となっては無駄に大きく不便なレコードですが、ジャケットデザイン・紙の質感・カラーやピクチャーレコードなど、採算度外視のクレイジーな作者の想いが、極限に反映されたものだと僕は思っています。その想いをレコードバックに詰め込んで、20キロはあろう重たいバックを担いで持ってくるDJもまたクレイジーです。
世界基準の日本ブランド・Technicsのターンテーブルが生産中止になった現在、この貴重な文化が消えかかっています。その火を灯し続けるのが僕らの使命だと感じ、Vinyl Onlyにこだわったパーティーをスタートする事にしました。
レコードに踊らされて、気づけば人生完全に音楽漬けになってしまったVinylistsが、あなたをお待ちしています。

When was the first time you went to a club? Do you remember?
For me, it was the summer of 95, and Liquid Rooms Club Venus in Shinjuku. The DJing of Derrick May amazed me. The next week I bought some turntables, and spent all my money from my part-time job buying records in Cisco almost every day.
I’m sure you have memories like this too.

These days, technology is improving fast, as CDs and MP3s have replaced records and turntables as the media of choice. Records are mostly seen as an inconvenience; however things like jacket design and colours, the feel of the paper, the soul of the maker, etc. are values which can’t be measured. All these values are placed into my records bag together with my records, until I’m a crazy DJ with a 20kg record bag thrown over my shoulder.

Technics, the world-renowned Japanese turntable brand, has now stopped making their famous turntables. As such, we are losing a massive cultural icon. I have made it my mission to try and keep this part of our culture alive, and so I have started my own vinyl-only parties.

Throughout my life, I’ve been obsessed with music. I’m a Vinylist. And I’m waiting for YOU to join me.
