It’s the summer of 1999 and a young Affi Koman is working as a waiter in his father’s jazz bar. As usual, his dad is playing the piano to a packed house in the smoke filled basement in the east end of the city. A workmate hands him a Glasgow Underground mix tape. After a long shift he goes home. He puts his headphones on, sits back and listens… As for so many that catch the house music bug, it completely changes his life and any thoughts of having a ‘normal’ existence and a ‘normal’ job are swiftly thrown out the window…House is now all that matters.
Fast forward to 2010 and his tastes may have changed slightly to a more techno orientated sound but the passion for music still burns strong. He has been a resident at daytime party, Sunday Circus, for 3 years now (featured in Mixmag’s ‘Top 10 UK Club Nights 2009’) and has played at pretty much every major event in Glasgow taking in the likes of Pressure, Subculture, Sensu and Return to Mono.
