Her desire to enter the world of electronic dance music professionally occurred after her younger sister was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Struggling with her sister’s condition, Lilly went on a whim to see a DJ she followed, and the experience convinced her that DJing would be the best way for her to express herself and to begin a new chapter in her life.
Under the tutelage of her friend and fellow producer Kryder, Lilly learned the art of working the decks, building a set and discovering her own unique sound. She began dabbling in production soon after, beginning with an original track named ‘You What’. She is now working on several other original productions that nod their heads to some of Lilly’s current influences (Tom Staar, Kryder, Chocolate Puma, Steve Angello, Mord Fustang and Deadmau5) and is also busy working on a new project with 2 other producers under the name of “Koll3ktiv”.
While she’s still growing as an artist, Lilly’s confidence in her onstage persona is as sure as anything. “Every time I DJ, my goal is to make a memory, since a lot of memories are triggered by music,” she says. “I love to see people happy, so I play tracks I hope will make them remember a time that they were extremely happy.”
In a short space of time her list of appearances have included Creamfields 2013 and 2014, closing the Cream Amnesia terrace in Ibiza after Laidback Luke and Benny Benassi, Ocean Beach, Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Ibiza Rocks Bar, and Victoria Warehouse. She is supported by names such as Kryder, Third Party, Toby Green, Gareth Emery, Jay Cosmic, Tom Swoon, and Wayne & Woods, to name a few.
A well known figure in the UK dance scene, although she’s know as Lilly to her closest friends, when she’s behind the decks, she calls herself ‘LilRockit’—“light the fuse and watch her go!”
