Our next meetup event this summer features adding dirtiness to the sound! Check out how our three presenters use various techniques to add some creative dirtiness to their music
It's a kind of strange that you pay extra attention to avoid noises when you record something while you intentionally add some dirtiness to the sound when you mix later in the production... This might be ambivalent, but this type of technique has its long-standing history itself, and it's a recent trend with various different plug-ins that add dirtiness to the sound coming out on the market.
Ableton Meetup Tokyo (AMT) will focus on this classic and interesting phenomenon, adding dirtiness to the sound, for our next meetup event coming up this summer, with three presenters showing each of their techniques in their presentations.
Tomoki Miyakawa, a composer, arranger, Ableton Certified Trainer, and an instructor for the online DTM school called Sleepfreaks, will make a deep dive into the drive effects, the classic way to add dirtiness to the sound. In his presentation entitled "Mixing Rhythm Tracks with Various Types of Saturation", he will show you some practical use cases with the range of drive effects from tape emulation, tube emulation, and all the way to some digital distortion.
Kazuaki Noguchi, a sound designer and manipulator, will make his first appearance as a presenter for AMT with his presentation entitled "When You Need Some Dirtiness to the Sound That Doesn't Have to Be Dirty". In his presentation, he will talk you through the process of his sound making, starting from building the clean sound first, then filling the spaces with dirtiness at the later stage.
Comm, a DJ/producer whose musical style ranges from dubstep to left-field, will be another presenter to make her AMT debut. In her presentation entitled "Creating Bass Without Rules", she will show you an in-depth look inside her go-to effect racks when she adds dirtiness to her sound, and how she shapes things to become a part of her experimental and sound-design-oriented music.
At AMT's iconic "Touch & Try" booth, you will be able to try Novation's Launch Control XL 3, their brand-new product that just came out in Japan recently. Feel free to have your hands-on experience with this fresh-new product together with Ableton Live and Push 3 in the booth.
Starting from this event, Ableton Meetup Tokyo will introduce a new price option for those who are under the age of 25, in addition to the existing student discount. Make sure to bring your student ID to receive your student discount, or bring your ID that states you're under the age of 25 to receive this newly added discount.
If you're not satisfied when the sound is too clean, and are attracted to a bit of a dirty sound, we are looking forward to seeing you at this meetup!
PLEASE NOTE : ALL PROGRAMS WILL BE DELIVERED IN JAPANESE LANGUAGE
No reservation or pre-registration is needed
To attend with discounted price, you must show your ID or Student ID
